And The Toughest 2009 NFL Schedule Goes To?

Unfortunately for my best friend D. Mott, the Miami Dolphins have been awarded the toughest road to the Super Bowl in 2009. See their schedule and analysis below…

Miami Dolphins 2009 Regular Season Schedule

Sept. 13 at Atlanta Falcons
Sept. 21 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Sept. 27 at San Diego Chargers
OCT. 4 BUFFALO BILLS
OCT. 12 NEW YORK JETS875
Oct. 18 Bye Week
OCT. 25 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Nov. 1 at New York Jets
Nov. 8 at New England Patriots
NOV. 15 TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Nov. 19 at Carolina Panthers
Nov. 29 at Buffalo Bills
DEC. 6 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Dec. 13 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Dec. 20 at Tennessee Titans
DEC. 27 HOUSTON TEXANS
JAN. 3 PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Right off the bat, just looking at the scheduled opponents for Miami outside of the AFC East should give all Dolphins fans the chills. They get Manning and the Colts, Titans, MoJo Drew’s Jags, T.O.’s Bills, the high powered Saints, L.T.’s Chargers, and the Matt Ryan-led Falcons. All I have to say is yikes and may God help you Miami! Even worse, only their games against Indy and New Orleans are at home. Every other brutal matchup is away from Dolphin stadium. Wow, this is worse than the Steelers’ 2008 NFL schedule. And as a side note, I know Steelers fans are happy because they got off the NFL’s toughest schedule schnide they’ve been on the past few years…

Toughest Home Game for Miami to Win Outside of the AFC East: Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 (Sept. 21st)

Toughest Away Game for Miami to Win Outside of the AFC East: At the San Diego SuperChargers in Week 3 (Sept. 27th)

The Game Likely to Destroy Miami’s Playoff Push: A letdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in Week 10 (Nov. 15th)

The Game Miami will surprise people and win: Dec. 20th against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 of the season to spoil Tennessee’s playoff hopes

Win/Loss Prediction: In 2009, Miami will finish 7-9 and not make the playoffs (sorry D Mott…)

  1. Ya. When I saw the opponents I knew it’d be brutal. And yeah it doesn’t let down to say the least. I think 7-9 is probably a pretty good prediction. I was thinking anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7 with the right bounces. Last year was an incredibly easy schedule. This team needs to improve dramatically. Hopefully a Jason Taylor signing is in the future. And they need a quality draft. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Henne starting by the end of the season if things don’t go well.

Away game that scares me the most is Carolina. Went to three of their games last year including one Monday nighter (and sadly the playoff game) but the atmosphere especially for a big night game was incredible. But it is Jake Delhomme so who knows.

And I’m ready to talk all sorts of trash to Alex and your dad when Miami takes down Peyton’s crew on MNF. haha.

Same with the Jags. Let’s go to that game.

  2. Hello Mr. Mott,

Alex and I are ready when you are. First though, since the Colts host the Jags in Week 1, I guess I’ll need to deal with the owner of this site first. That said, the Colts do concern me because of the coaching changes, and their defense will still not be able to stop the run. We’ll see. Another year of 12 wins may be hard to come by.

Jason Taylor?????? I hadn’t heard or seen anything about him going back, and remember, he just had the great year with the Skins, after the Dolphins didn’t want him anymore. Go figure.

Well, at least there’s the Marlins there for you. They actually seem to be a pretty good ball club, though who knows how good you might be because you sweep the Nationals!
